Topical application of caffeine:

caffeine, which is known to have antioxidant properties, impedes keratinocyte proliferation and migration, suggesting that it may have an inhibitory effect on wound healing and epithelialisation.

Oral consumption:

Daily consumption of caffeine impairs graft viability when given in medium dose and increases collagen synthesis, irrespective of dosage. This study was in experimental rats; the results are not directly translatable to humans.

On the topic of collagen synthesis, I decided to find a study about it, not to leave the topic unfinished, here’s what I found:

Caffeine reduces collagen synthesis in human cultured skin fibroblasts.

Based on all my findings, I would personally suggest avoiding caffeine altogether if you’ve a healing wound.

    I wonder if a caffeine reduction or elimination helps you look younger longer, if the intake reduces the things making your skin stretchy.

      I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m one of the few people who avoid / completely cut off caffeine (I have the gene for caffeine giving me anxiety - DNA test shown as much, cannot find info via a quick search to back up the DNA, but it’s what my health DNA test said and I’ve been experiencing extreme anxiety whenever consuming caffeine). I’m 25 and a few months ago I was asked to give my ID when buying an energy drink, because the store has a policy of needing to be at least 16 to purchase it.

        That’s awesome to keep that youthful look. My 40 year old ass might benefit to keep it lol
