    I think all references to Turkish foreign policy should include the phrase “this week,” since next week it’ll likely change. Again.

    When was Turkey ever on Russia’s side??? It was one of Ukraine’s most important allies from day one of the war (remember the Bayraktar song?), and has been a principal geopolitical antagonist of Russia for 150 years or so…

      They’ve taken the role of trying to mediate between the countries instead of actively taking Ukraines side, I can’t argue for whether that’s good or not though, I honestly have no idea how Turkeys energy should best be spent. But they can hardly be considered one of the most important allies while also abstaining from imposing sanctions on Russia. No matter how many drones Turkey sold to Ukraine
