“Well, I think what Terry did with Season 3 is so extraordinary, and I think that the appetite for it is, I think, undeniable. So certainly, I am a huge advocate of some version of that continuing. It was so spectacular, I think, what he did. And so, you know, right now, there’s no pitching of anything. Right now the world is uh shut down [due to writer’s strike]. But, you know, I would really hope– let me put it like this: I signed the petition [for Star Trek: Legacy] too.”
It might be a while folks. That’s okay if it means the cast and crew get their fair share of the profits. They’re the life and blood of the show.
On the plus side, I have to think Matalas is scribbling notes, letting ideas marinate, and will have a much more fleshed-out pitch to make when the time comes. It’d be better to not have the project rushed just to meet fan demand.
Goldsman is really collegial and gracious in this.
I hope Matalas can do the same in return towards SNW.
I agree that there’s a lot that could and should be adjusted in response to some of the genuine concerns raised about the nature of early 25th century Starfleet and the Federation we were presented it in the Picard series finale.
Absolutely, while I thoroughly enjoyed “the final season” there were things that were shown as horrible, yet never mentioned again (which is feasible given the fast pace) … a lot that could be unpicked when you have a battle hardened crew who might have trust issues led by a former ranger.
