    This article gives entirely too much consideration to Trump’s defence. Its giving weight to the false narrative that this is just based on his speech before the insurrection, or saying the results were a lie. That is not why he is being indicted!

    There is mountains of evidence of him arranging with co-conspirators to declare the election illegal, trying to get the military on board, and attempting to install himself as unelected president (probably for life). Pretty cut and dry treason. His free speech (criminal though it is at times) is not the crime here.

    What part of “… The Defendant had a right, like every American, to speak publicly about the election and even to claim, falsely, that there had been outcome-determinative fraud during the election and that he had won…” do people not understand? It’s clear. The defendant has a right to lie. This isn’t about freedom of speech. I guess, unless you repeat the lie enough that’s all people hear.
