I mean there’s Reddit ofc, as well as Twitter in its entirety, Discord is implementing some dumb updates, there are issues with Tumblr as well as everything to do with Meta, and I’m sure there are plenty more (and I haven’t even touched other digital media, for example the Sims). Why is it all happening in the span of about a couple months?

    Centralized services bring in a ton of benefits (such as the huge corpus of information found on Reddit) but require large amounts of infrastructure and money for upkeep. And then when someone is sitting on a site like that, they will have ideas about making more money off it. It’s inevitable that most large online platforms want to take advantage of their scale to make money.
