I’ve been looking for an alternative to Google Photos. My question is, because I’ve created a free account. How good is ente.io?
Sorry I can’t help, but just letting you (and anyone else looking) that immich.app is the best alternative.
lmao. You said you can’t help with ente.io so you clearly haven’t testes all services, but yeah sure, recommend something. Very objective. (Nothing against immich itself, I used it myself and liked it.)
Thanks
Same as photo prism , don’t know how to create my own server
Immich is leagues ahead of Photo Prism, but Photo Prism is definitely an alternative.
Setting up a server isn’t difficult if you can follow a YouTube video. Are you looking to host it yourself at home? or through a hosted service?
Either way, you could find a YouTube video that is easy to follow along for setting this up with Docker if you’re at all curious. If not, hopefully someone can answer your original question!
In what way Immich is leagues ahead of PhotoPrism? I’ve been looking for an alternative for quite some time and it’s the first time I hear about it. Edit: Ok the demo seems very nice, but the unstable notice makes me think…
One thing to note about immich is that they use a proprietary file structure so you cannot just throw your existing pictures folder at it and have it non-destructively index them. It’s in their roadmap to change this behavior but for me it’s a deal breaker. I use photoprism and it works great for me.
That’s a deal-breaker. Thanks for the heads up
I have an unraid server and reverse proxy setup but way too scared to self host this kind of thing.
omg this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. self hosted photo sharing with collaborative albums!
I’ve deployed a Photoprism Instance, there is everything open source, even the server. You can also buy them managed via PikaPods https://www.photoprism.app/
I’ve saw it, but truth be told, I don’t know nothing about to deploy my own server…
Making your own server can seem daunting at first, and there is a learning curve at the beginning, but if you like tech it’s a great way to learn how computers and networks work.
You can pay for a managed version. See here https://docs.photoprism.app/getting-started/cloud/pikapods/
I’m not at US, EU or HK…damn, can’t use PikaPods either?
I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now. The migration from G-photos was flawless, and I’m very happy with how polished the service is.
Definetly recommend for someone not looking to selfhost.
Oh and, they give you an extra 10GB for each person refer/if you get refered by someone. So you could have 20GB for just 10$ a year, which is fair enough I think.
Thanks
I tested it some time on iOS and it was definitely the closest to google photos I found. The pricing wasn’t appealing to me but I feel like it’s a good service.
Indeed. Very expensive
Waiting for Circles (circu.li) to be out of beta currently. Has photo storage and sharing capabilities, so it’s great for family and close friends.
Thanks!
There’s also Piwigo which can be self-hosted or cloud hosted.
Thanks
Ente Photos user here. As happy as I could be. A bit pricey just for photo storage, but works flawlessly.
Check Stingle Photos too. It’s a bit cheaper, but also is E2EE.
It’s expensive, more for me in Argentina. But I’m thinking to pay yearly
Have you tried Filen or MEGA? Filen gives up to 40 GB for free and MEGA starts at 25 GB for free. Both E2EE and have automatic photo upload.
Thanks! I’ll look
