When I was getting a new line for some relatives, I found that when going through the web checkout process you could select your phone number out of 5 choices before completing the purchase. I thought that was pretty bad design as it shows which numbers are most likely going to be new. It would be pretty easy to scrape that page and create a spam list.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long for the new number to start receiving spam.

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole on NES Monopoly because I used to play the game and wanted to see if I held the B button. Probably did, but I’m not sure.
Anyway, the world record speedrun of Monopoly takes advantage of the trade mechanics. Trade the CPU mortgaged properties for all of their money and they’ll lose the game because you have to pay a 10% fee on any properties traded that were mortgaged. And if you take all their money in the trade they don’t have any to pay the penalty.

I used to use Boost for Reddit so I naturally started using Boost for Lemmy when it came out. But for some reason I wasn’t quite satisfied with it.

Oh man I know, right‽ In Canada the run up to the election can be between 37 and 51 days. The US election cycle is for fucking ever and then restarts 2 years after the election, and that’s not counting mid terms. Just exhausting. Campaign advertising must just be a huge industry because they’re never turned off.

I was playing the 20th anniversary edition recently and they have developer commentary built into the game with little activated speech bubbles spread throughout a few levels. It was neat hearing them talk about how they targeted 20fps from a certain location on the map for a 486 SX 33, so to reach that they deleted a few pixels here and there.
Mine too. It’s been so long that I haven’t been expecting a sequal at all.
I still remember swapping out my 486 SX 33Mhz with a 486 DX 100! I could finally play Duke Nukem 3D properly. Some areas got down to a frame every 2 seconds with the old processor.

Sometimes I forget that CPU clock speeds were talked about in Mhz instead of Ghz.
I somehow missed Bad Street Brawler and went for Bad Dudes because I played that one at the arcade. Wasn’t nearly as good as the arcade version though.
