I didn’t understand what imgur had become before I clicked the link and briefly thought the library had lots of copies of Twisters in 4k.

I don’t have any idea really, but one possible contributing element is the speed of delivery. My understanding (possibly incorrectly) is that western comics are more commonly delivered on a one book per month cycle, whereas Manga delivers a lot more content in the same time period. Part of this production time can probably be attributed to coloring time (Western comics color every panel vs Manga printed in mostly black and white).
There’s also the accessibility of Manga and anime, having relatively newer characters without the burden of decades of backstory (not accounting for One Piece). Running an anime with (mostly) similar story line helps to bring potential new readers up to speed quickly with Manga, whereas the animated adaptations of western comics often seem to pick specific story arcs of comics, or make up entirely new stories.
Needed to be more specific. It’s What is Wii?
Fracking technology has some potential upside in the climate discussion, https://time.com/6302342/fervo-fracking-technology-geothermal-energy/
A ban on fracking might not be the best solution if you want to move the technology towards something more beneficial to the fight against climate change.
I went to a gamestop a few months ago to see if they had any games for my Gameboy Advance. The dude at the register said I might have better luck at the “retro game” store in the next town over. I nearly spit out my Crystal Pepsi at him.
I have a guncon3 somewhere around. It works with a pair of sensors placed on top of the TV, like in the PS Eye and XBox Move era. No CRT was required for that.
The length of the cable between the sensors was made for something like a 40" screen though, so if you play on a larger screen they sit a bit toward the center instead of in the corners where they are supposed to be.
I did not assert that the court gave full immunity for all things, but will now suggest that not every crime is a violation of the constitution, or could not be committed while carrying out a function of the constitution.
Why would immunity be necessary if the act is not otherwise a crime?
I meant “maybe” in the context of it seeming like a significant gamble to attempt the rescue. It certainly doesn’t always work out for the potential rescuers. https://slate.com/technology/2013/05/rescuers-turning-into-victims-lessons-from-first-responders-on-saving-people.html
So my hedging with the word “maybe” is because I certainly don’t have the expertise to know the risks with attempting the rescue, but then again “maybe” any potential rescuers shouldn’t have asked for permission.
I worked on pipelines for part of my career in maintenance planning, not in construction. I’ve been trying to guess at how a rescue operation could have been attempted in this case. I’m not aware of any mechanism for cutting into the pipe at the depth the divers were stuck that wouldn’t immediately result in flooding the pipe, or risk cutting through the divers. The only rescue option that I could guess at is divers going in from the end of the pipe, swimming down through the length of it, and somehow pulling the trapped divers out.
Maybe the owner/state should have let rescuers give it a try, but that rescue option sounds terrifying as hell.
That used to bother me a bit too, but then i figured if he’s strong enough to do a sweet one arm pull-up while carrying Tifa in the other to pull them back into the Highwind when she nearly falls out, then he’s probably strong enough to dolphin kick holding himself halfway out of the water looking completely motionless.
It was a proposal, and a quite modest one if I recall. Also hella satirical in case anyone thought Swift believed that.
There are states in the US where this might be reversed, e.g. they have no sales tax, but higher income tax (Oregon). I’m not suggesting that moving to any of those states would be feasible for most of us, but the tax burden may work a bit different for parents there.
Nah, probably a better analogy is like blaming the Sacklers for the opioid epidemic.
If we’re setting the calendar back 200 years, I’d have to guess that one of the contributing factors is records keeping and reporting. The definition of what is considered a “mass shooting” has also been fluid over the past 50 or so years.
These are not likely to be major contributors, but from Hollywood’s depictions, mass shootings may have been pretty common around 150 years ago.
I feel like there needs to be more discussion of how people can be anti-Zionist without being antisemitic. There are elements of many faiths that people can object to without being considered antagonistic of that faith. People might not hate all people who are Jewish, but also might not be too enthusiastic about the Israeli State and all of its actions, which does not make them antisemitic.
Puppies do not recognize your silly imaginary borders and will commit zoomies across any such lines.
Remember that Sisyphus was a monster that killed people that he invited into his court. We are not Sisyphus, and we should not share his punishment.
