No, I straight up had two different installation media’s fail until I went back and shut down windows fully. I’ve never run into that before on an install before.

First I tried ZorinOS, and it would fail to even boot into the live environment. I tried multiple times and even made a new install media. Then I tried fedora silverblue, it would get into the install environment but couldn’t do any kind of partitioning etc to the drive. I then rebooted to windows, shut it down fully, and tried again. This time fedora could edit the drive partitions, and zorin could load the live environment and install.

Previously I’ve had issues with shared drives being locked by windows, but this was the first time I’ve ever had an install fail because windows wasn’t shutdown fully. I don’t usually dual boot these days either though (I was setting up this computer for family) so I figured maybe something had changed with newer versions of windows or device security.

Make sure windows was shut down all the way. Normally when you shutdown windows, it only hibernates and it locks it’s partitions to prevent editing. I tried installing Zorin for a family member recently, and it couldn’t install until I booted back into windows and shut it down fully.

To shutdown fully, in windows you need to either hold shift while clicking the shutdown button, or open the run box and run the command shutdown -s -t 00

Yeah, it’s unfortunately common to have games running better through proton than the native port. We’ve seen a lot of devs drop their linux port recently because the proton version ran better with fewer issues.

Obviously a well executed native linux port is preferable, but a lot of smaller devs have trouble justifying spending a lot of time working out kinks for a linux port if the game already runs great through proton.

Recently ran into an issue with Endeavour OS where the built in printer program would give errors when trying to add my network ecotank printer.

Tried using cups terminal and it worked the first time, and is still working weeks later.

So some of the GUI printer apps that distros ship with have issues apparently, but I don’t know the extent of it.

I think some people sabotage relationships for the same reason they throw video games. They have fears/suspicions that it’s going to not work out, and rather than be a victim they want to have some control over the outcome. A loss or failed relationship doesn’t hurt as bad if they caused it to end the way it did.

However in your case, it sounds more like a fear of something different. It’s a lot easier to keep things like they are, when a relationship gets too serious or life impacting it can be easy to be scared of the change, and instead subconsciously decide you want to keep things like they are.

There’s a big difference between doom scrolling and education.

The missing context here (I think) is that California passed a law saying that digital storefronts (like steam and gog) can’t say things like “buy game” because you aren’t actually gaining ownership of the game, but instead just buying a license to access it. Some people were questioning if this law should apply to gog since their games are drm free and can be freely installed on any compatible devices once you download the installer.

Part of what was weird is I tried paying with Google Play credit, and it wouldn’t take that either.

Yeah, but when this happened proton wasn’t a thing yet, and running windows games through wine was very hit or miss.

I bought Rocket League because it had a Linux version, and Linux games were scarce before proton. Epic bought the developers of rocket League, and made it Epic exclusive. People who bought the steam version got to keep it, except for Linux users because Epic cancelled Linux support.

Epic loves to act like they’re anti monopoly, but they only care about that when they’re competing for market share. They’re extremely pro Microsoft and anti Linux.

Also one of the biggest concerns about Valve having a monopoly in the PC gaming space is that they could use their marketshare and money to block rival stores from getting popular games, making it hard to compete and removing user choice. In reality, Valve hasn’t done this, but Epic is leveraging their big pile of fortnite money to do this. It makes people think that if Epic ever gets into a dominate market position, that they’ll absolutely be an abusive monopoly that makes the market space worse for everyone else.

It takes a lot less money and knowledge to tear things down than it does to build them up. Especially if the members are willing to die for the cause.

Obviously there have been major improvements over the past 80 years, but that’s still considered the first neural network. The need for multi-layer neural networks was recognized by 1969, but the knowledge of how to do that took awhile to be worked out.

Fun fact, the Perceptron is basically the first machine learning AI, and it was invented in 1943. It took a long time and many advancements in hardware before it became recognizable as the AI of today, but it’s hardly a new idea.

Huh, possibly bad extruder? If it’s got weak extrusion it might only be able to push it through the nozzle at higher temps.

It really sounds like you have a major problem with the printer that needs to be resolved. Without knowing any more details I would suggest making sure the nozzle isn’t clogged and possibly replacing the hot end.

I had similar printing issues with some filaments, due to heat creep. The printing would start ok on mine, but after the printer had been running awhile it would print like that. In my case heat was travelling up the hot end and Bowden tube, which was causing printing issues after a certain amount of time had passed. Some filaments were more sensitive about this than others, my cheap plain filaments and my multicolor filaments wouldn’t print well, but medium to high quality plain filaments would print fine.

There are a lot of things that can contribute to heat creep, I ended up replacing my hot end and Bowden tube, and lowered my print temperature some.

220° is pretty high, I would try to figure out why it won’t print below that temperature and see what you can do to bring that down. See if that fixes it.
