My ten year old laptop has 4 gigs of RAM and can barely boot windows. It can run Linux pretty well but it still only has 4 gigs of RAM

Yeah, I think the main reason is cutting out all of the sugar that’s in sodas. I also started drinking a lot of tea. Mostly chai, but it’s much cheaper and without most of the sugar.
Soda price increases have done wonders for my health.
I’m American and don’t get it either. When I was younger that was the only cheese I knew and I decided I didn’t like cheese because of it. It took a long time to realize that stuff isn’t real cheese and that the real stuff is very good.
I also think it isn’t legal to call some of it “cheese”. I know Kraft singles at the very least uses some deceptive phrasing to say it’s cheese-like or cheese-flavored or something like that instead of calling it “cheese”.
+1 for Kagi. I don’t mind paying for things that have value.
Good soldiers follow orders
The rest of Gen Z can speak for themselves.
Idk if they ever said why they were doing it, but they canned it about a month ago.
I’m still incredibly angry at Disney+ for gutting watch together. I have a Plex server that I use quite a bit that I suppose will be getting even more usage now.
What is vinegar and baking soda?
Mine was the chubby Pikachu that had the purple accents!
I’m on lemmy.world.
I joined while lemmy.ml was still the biggest instance. While I was picking an instance, I read that people should consider joining the smaller instances instead of lemmy.ml. I think the idea was to promote horizontal growth across lemmy instead of vertical growth on one instance. I picked lemmy.world because I liked the instance admin running it, and I wanted to help spread out the user base.
Didn’t realize that lemmy.world would quickly become the biggest instance and encounter all the growing pains of rapid growth, but I still stick with this instance to be a part of identifying what those growing pains are so they can hopefully be fixed and grow Lemmy into a more mature platform that is capable of scaling up.
Did you go to school somewhere in the Midwestern US? Everyone I know who has even heard of euchre is from there (mostly Indiana).
I love Libby! I wish my local library had more copies of books I want to listen to though.
I wouldn’t mind $5 if that tier didn’t also cap the number of searches to 250. I’d burn through that super quick, and $25 for unlimited is way too much IMO.
I’m a software engineer on a team that is known around the org to have the worst on-call load out of anyone else. You are definitely underappreciated if your work saves them lots of time!
I have a similar experience with my extended family that I only see once a year during the holidays. They usually gave me cheap gifts that I had no use for, and I always had to pretend to be grateful for them. I’ve said for years that I’d rather just get nothing at all than the gifts that were obviously just given to me for the sake of giving me something.
I like to think so. I put a lot of effort into trying to be someone I would want to be friends with, and there are times I slip up of course, but generally I think of myself as someone who is nice.
