Canonical is basically the closed to corporate Linux you will find on the free distro market… They are pushing stuff you don’t want for marketing reasons (for example their own proprietary Snaps when a better working open source solution already exists with Flatpack), love their telemetry (can be mostly disabled for now, but given the defaults and their other behavior we can already see where this is heading) and in general decide more alongside their latest business plan than actually making sense or listening to users.
But that’s okay as it’s rolling release and unlike other distros you only need to do it exactly once…

But those aren’t affected usually. For them it’s about stability because their certification processes are a lot of work and they won’t risk any interruptions unless absolutely necessary. So they actually pay a lot of money for support beyond the normal EOL.

And your were entirely on the right track when your first comment started with explaining the origin first. When that’s your starting point and you then get the response “But I’ve been saying it for years”, it’s probably far more successful to go with “Yes, but it can be offensive for people knowing its origin, so why not use available alternative terms?” than with “bro it’s been fucking racist for years”. In one case people have a high chance on thinking about it, in the other they will instictively feel attacked and get defensive about it.

Yes, of course there are some nazis in Ukraine. Sadly every country seem to have some fringe right-wing morons. And using them to fight Russia, especially in a time when the offcial army wasn’t up to the task yet, was understandable.
But that’s not the main problem. The main problem is doubt that Ukraine will be able to handle them at some point when it’s necessary. And when -to paraphrase Ukraine’s then ambassador to Germany for example in 2015- the answer to the question if they realize that this can become a problem down the road is: “No, you are lying to help Russian propaganda! There are and never in history were any right-wing groups in Ukraine!” that’s a pretty big indicator that they won’t manage that problem ever. Because acknowledging it exists would have been the required first step instead of spewing insane rants.
It’s also no surprise we get this story when journalists at the exact same visit tell the exact opposite. Because only the narrative matters and we have long left reality behind…
Also: Isn’t it funny how other countries first contacted the German industry for support in spares and repairs but exclusively the German ones are problematic and lack spares? Yeah, sure… I am “projecting” personal experience in the Bundeswehr two decades ago. It was already a shitshow back then with only those with no job prospects anywhere else considering to join (outside some special and very limeted numbers, using their time there to study… but that’s not the bulk of soldiers). It went downhill from there ever since.

They are not finding enough soldiers because all these soft modern young adults are too selfish for that job, just like companies find no employees because those spoiled brats are too lazy to work.
