Burnt Sienna
I try to push through and get an errand or house chores done after work everyday. My 2 days off end up being exactly that.
First thing I do after moving is locate the spots with the good coffee. I’ve never run into trouble and I typically find several spots.
But if I want a cup of coffee I typically brew it myself and I use beans from local roasters. If you’re in the middle of nowhere with no roasters around, SWroaster out of Indiana delivers anywhere in the US.
That’s the case everywhere. Starbucks is ubiquitous. You can either complain about it, or walk across the street and get some good coffee, which is also ubiquitous.
I do believe it all started with the Boston Tea Party. Drinking coffee as an alternative was hip and it just kinda stuck around.
Absolutely. The only reason I speak Spanish now, after all these years, is consistently working with Spanish speakers.
It is mandatory. Just not a whole lot of mandatory happening. 2 years required in high-school. And 2-4 semesters required in college depending in your major.
It’s a good start, but I think it needs to happen very early on. I took 2 years of Spanish in highschool, and it was a good start. I’ve been practicing for 20 years since. I’d say I’m close to fluent, but 2 decades is long time to get to fluency.
Tasting History by Max Miller. Excellent choice!
I worked with a cook who had previously cooked in the military. He told me his boss would occasionally throw an entire egg into the powered eggs so people would think they were using real eggs. Don’t know if that true or not, but moral of the story: don’t trust the typos.
My wife is born and raised in Texas. She thinks churches on every corner is normal. Now she is a travelling surgical tech and falling in love with upstate NY. It’s not my beloved Pacific Northwest, but I will gladly move anywhere away from these loco church people.
I’ve been a chef for 15 years. This job is BOTH physically and mentally exhausting. Not to mention the rampant drug and alcohol addictions.
If you really wanna do this, go for it. I suggest you try to find the ritziest place in the area. Pizza places are where I would go for a new plug in a new city.
Oh, and you aren’t gonna get paid.
