regular people will never get rid of twitter or meta, Facebook. YouTube. it’s incompatible with their psychology.

they need to use what other people are using, they need to see “content” from their followed users

switching to another platform will kill that for them for weeks and stall their “growth”

to be forward thinking and to give up something you’ve had is too much for the average person

which is why I’m on Lemmy: there’s nothing reddit offers to me that makes me “give” it up, it’s always been there but now that there’s competition it’s worth trying something new out

All these mental gymnastics to avoid saying capitalism and consumerism is the problem. The “nerds” buying hardware aren’t the issue when Intel and Nvidia have literally been confirmed to gimp chip releases when they have a grip on the market.

Comics have always been campy to me. Anime when I grew up felt like a new direction. It did gritty before gritty was cool. The entire aesthetic was new and creative.

The music overshadowed anything western animation (at the time) had. I think the cultural impact made waves and western animation is pretty good now.

Although I consider the two things to be very different.

If you don’t have access to Linux, MacOS is the closest commercially available option so it makes sense.

Also please take what I said lightly, I by no means want to bash Mac users and generalize them. It just has been my experience. I’m sure there are thousands of highly competent technical users who prefer Mac.
