  • The way my life’s been going lately I haven’t been able to play any games in a long time and thankfully for my wallet I’ve also stopped buying them. I do however open up Epic every Thursday to pick up the free games. Some of them have been pretty decent and one of these days I’ll get around to playing some of them. Not to long ago was Fallout 1, 2, and tactics which I have always wanted to try. Just have to find a free minute and some motivation and brain power, hopefully all at the same time.

  • Yeah I had it when I was a kid. For whatever reason my brain just wouldn’t allow it to happen and my tongue would grab the pill before I could swallow it. It cause a lot of problems. I don’t know what happened and I can’t even remember when it happened but one day it was just gone and I’ve never had an issue swallowing pills since.

Other animal’s intelligence is clearly different form human’s, but every study they do on the intelligence of animals shows them to be more intelligent and closer to us than was previously thought. You assuming to understand the experience of dogs is, like you said, belief. You should have just stopped there though, because your belief is just that, a belief, not a fact.

  • I think there’s a reason these posts always end up on programmer focused places on the internet. Yes, I’m sure their job is annoying, and it would be easier to not have to solve time conversion problems, but the time conversion problems wouldn’t even go away if you forced everyone to use UTC. You’d just start having to do conversions to solar time, or looking up waking hours (which is just timezones)

Which is short sighted considering it is much easier to make a standardized library for converting time zones than it is to make a standard library reflecting what different time numbers mean in different places around the world. If they somehow convinced people to make the change, they would find out pretty quickly they were better off with the devil they knew.

Now you’re on about low pay, what are you even talking about? Changing companies is the best thing for increasing salary and you’re here acting like a child terrified of losing your job… have you ever even worked at a company on salary? You sound like you’re talking about something you are clueless about. Stop being so afraid, go change jobs.

  • Dante’s Inferno went into detail that was not biblical, but there’s enough in the bible that writing it off completely is cherry picking.

“They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

"And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

"But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

“And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”

  • Because there is no downside

Sure, unless you care about LGBT+ people not being discriminated against and murdered. And unless you care about teaching strong critical thinking to avoid conspiracies including anti-vax. And unless you care about the future of the planet in the face of climate change which is largely ignored by religious people who are more focused on the next life than this one. And unless, and unless, and unless…

    There are tons of downsides.

As the only way in which the human condition can be contextualised is in a world that is created, and religions are the keepers of that knowledge.

Yeah no, we can contextualize with rational thought, it’s just that more work needs to be done that has historically been stifled by religion considering they have historically killed people who didn’t go along with them. Religions don’t have some monopoly on knowledge in this field, what they have is some shit they just made up, some of which works, and a lot of which doesn’t. But they have no methodology by which to test which parts work and which don’t so they just push all of them regardless.
