Funny enough I work in the opposite end of the spectrum with embedded firmware. But even I can see the value of webdev.
Web dev solves a simple UI pattern kinda elegantly for rapid development. I don’t disagree with where you’re coming from but I think your last take away is a mischaracterization of why it’s used.

Speak for yourself I use both controllers and kbm for my PC games. The input method isn’t really worth crying over.

Unraid does this via docker. It’s amazing. You can do this live and on the fly.
When windows 10 stops working is the better chance. Even then, not convinced it’ll be year of Linux.
Also AI, though I’m sure that’ll be an unpopular suggestion. It really does save time though.
I want shorter games, on average. 10-20 hour completion times would be right up my alley.

If you haven’t experienced multiplayer tetris from the modern remakes you may be in for a treat. It’s a lot of fun when you’re up against someone of similar skill. At least one switch version includes ranked matchmaking (Puyopuyo Tetris).
