  • I have very little patience for people who can’t or won’t do the hard thing. Like, yeah withdrawal is going to suck but sometimes you have to do something unpleasant to get something better.

I mostly keep it to myself though. A lot of people have this problem. Not just about smoking.

    Conversations like

    “I’m so tired I don’t know why.”

“When did you go to sleep and get up?”

“Uh sleep at like 3am and up at 7am.”

“Well that explains it. Why up so late?”

    “… YouTube videos.”

“You should probably stop staying up so late watching videos so you’re not exhausted all day.”

    “No.”

But I mostly keep it to myself because there’s not really anything I can do to make someone listen.

  • Modern fallout games do difficulty badly. Walked up to one of those boomer guys in fo:NV , he gave me some shit, so I shot him in the face with a revolver. He didn’t fall over dead.

I got a bunch of mods to make everyone a lot more of a glass cannon, but made power armor very effective (and other armor somewhat so). Was a lot more fun. But also there was a lot more reloading because, like, sometimes a baddie would get the drop on me and I’d be dead from two shots.

Still more fun than sponges everywhere

  • Thinking about it, a lot of things that I flag as idiotic come from putting emotions first. We’re all emotional creatures, but idiots are ruled by them. It’s idiotic to blow your rent money on candy, but the short term emotional high for an idiot is too appealing. It’s stupid to blow up at someone instead of admitting fault, but admitting fault feels bad, so the idiot can’t take that. Reading an essay is informative, but that’s boring work and the idiot might feel bad if they don’t understand it, so they’d avoid the whole thing. If the essay doesn’t agree with their worldview, that’s going to feel terrible.

  • Review bombs and “boycotts” are frustrating because it seems like the average player has the willpower of a hungry toddler. “Hey, don’t buy this game. They make their developers work 20 hour days.” -> “Oh yeah fuck them! …ooh, but there’s a shiny angel wing skin if I preorder? Well mmmmmmm well sure it’s just $90 what does it hurt”

But I don’t know. I’m kind of in a mood lately where I feel like I’m surrounded by overgrown toddlers.
