This is what I’ve heard too. It’s really no big deal. Concerned local fishermen are probably just not introduced to the physics of this. In general, humans tend to worry a bit more about radioactivity than necessary. This in particular will be diluted into basically nothing. The only real problem is the PR work that lies ahead for them. In practice, their people should probably be more concerned about constantly dying early from pollution and protest more about that.

Why is migration not happening on a larger scale yet? I thought world at large would be more chaotic than now. People are just this stubborn? Every summer they’ll now literally risk dying.

The main feature is that you’ll never have problem with too few or no seeders again, and everything will be fast always, and no one will ask or expect you to seed. Some have retention period on the content for like a decade.

This entire series was messed up. Every season disjointed from the other and all of them having various major flaws. Also climate refugees will become a regular thing, people doing anything to pass borders as it’s life or death for particularly exposed nations. This is already happening but will no doubt get even worse, breeding even more extremism and nationalism that bring onto a whole other slew of issues as a package deal of extreme nationalism. Depends how you look at it. I think it’s not hopeful because this implies they are in fact submerged and not on the surface (remember they can’t open the hatch from the inside so that has been a perfectly valid scenario as well). That in turn implies they’re most likely S.O.L I’m afraid. They have like 24 hours left and haven’t even found the sub yet. Getting the logistics done and hauling this one up itself takes a long time.

From what I’ve heard by experts, no. That chance is now extremely slim. Basically they then need to be found on the water surface. It’s a complex logistical challenge to lift a submersible at these incredible depth. I think certainly not done over a day or two even working around the clock.

Exactly, and there’s honestly no need for them to have 100,000+ people in them either. 1,000 people goes a long way too. There’s a point of critical mass when you can have sustained discussions and there are enough upvotes to form a sensible feed by popularity in the community, and that critical mass isn’t that huge IMHO. There also often comes a moment when greater popularity is detrimental and worsens it.

I could also jump onto Lemmy almost right away as my most loved communities were already forming here. I think Lemmy has a better outlook than Mastodon in this regard because the community is waiting for you, rather than Mastodon is expecting you to form your circle, which can take a lot of effort in the midst of fediverse confusion.

LMAO and these guys wanting to reopen /r/piracy are awaiting IPO. Any investor not seeing the issues at hand here deserve all the misfortune they’ll get.
