honestly i expected the fifth panel to be full of things like “GIL”, “2to3”, “virtualenv” “pip vs conda vs poetry vs…”, “mypy”, etc

that’s always been nintendo’s MO though. with the exception of the N64 and GameCube, their consoles have all been very modest spec-wise. but the games they put out are made specifically for that hardware, so it’s usually fine.
and actually, the switch is underclocked in its stock configuration. if you have adequate cooling for it you can basically double its clock speed with a softmod, which at least for totk removed basically all stuttering for me!
i mean it is eight years old.
the spec is 10 chapters. everything is unquoted by default, so parsers must be able to guess the data type of every value, and will silently convert them if they are, but leave them alone otherwise. there are 63 possible combinations of string type. “no” and “on” are both valid booleans. it supports sexagesimal numbers for some reason, using the colon as a separator just like for objects. other things of this nature.
i can see what it points to. you can’t claim the statement is unfalsifiable just because you didn’t see the issues before removal. like, this is not proof-of-god tier stuff.
it took you as long to find that link as it would have to look up the thing they gave you. this is not kindergarten, nobody owes you you their time. you are expected to be able to find and evaluate the validity of information yourself.
you’ve gotta adjust some parameters, man, that’s horrendous.
my patreon bill is about $100 a month, I have a nebula subscription, and i pay for dropout, so yes i do.
and i pay those people if i engage with their creations. i still get ads in their videos, so i use sponsorblock.
advertising is emotional manipulation that i do not wish to be subjected to when not actively seeking it out. doesn’t matter if it’s done out of necessity, give me as a viewer a way to support you directly if that’s the situation.
i think the mod loader is for a console release.
i’m a plan 9 from bell labs fan. Imagine how excited I was when wsl used 9P for its plumbing. then they scrapped it all for wsl2.
just, the power they managed to get out of those union mounts… your application wants access to the mouse? sure, here’s a file named “mouse”. it’s got the coordinates in it. you want to draw to the screen? here’s a file called like “bitmap” or whatever, just write to it. you want to start a process on another machine? just cd to it and start the process there. want to have the UI show up on your machine? symlink your bitmap file to that directory.
I also wish early web composability could have stayed and expanded. like, the old vlc embed player, which would just show up in your browser and could play any file inline? great stuff. Imagine if every application composed with everything else, like the android Activity and Intent concepts but for anything, just by virtue of living in the same os. need an image? just ask the os and it will present the user with many ways to procure an image, let the selected one run , and hand you back an image. you don’t even have to care where from. in a way, it’s what the arcan guy is doing with his experiments, although that’s more for stitching together graphical pipelines.
sorry to tell you this bud…
i find it useful for things outside my areas of expertise. been doing a lot of devops lately and even though it usually fails in the specifics it can generate the broad structure of a yaml pipeline and enough pointers that i can find the right thing in the docs.
so, a danish flag.
learn kakoune or helix, become even more entrenched.
i vastly prefer the object-verb keybinds to vim’s verb-object, but now i can’t even find bindings for other editors so i’m permanently stuck now
they are also working on a follow-up, uv. not really a fan of writing tooling in another language but it works really well.
