…Bethesda is a terrible developer and producer with a few good games under its belt that make people really dedicated to it— and I don’t super blame those people. It would be like if half of Zelda games were buggy and unfun and amateur and kinda-ugly trash— and so were most of their other first-party was too— but those three or four great Zeldas and two or three good Marios made people huge fans of the company. Or it would be like, you know, CD Projekt Red making one— maybe two— games so great that people decided all their other games must be great by default even when they’re not (which, well, yeah).

The people who published Big Rigs are still out there publishing terrible mainstream license games such as the new Kong game and the new Avatar: TLA game (yes, really). They’re called “Game Mill”, and they are exactly what their name is, and their games are some of the worst on shelves. They don’t keep any employees very long and they have them work on games before they even get an order so they can slap the license into the game last-minute.

I came here to say this. This is really the real response. “Prohibition didn’t work” isn’t the reason, it’s the results of a response.

Gonna repeat what someone else here said: This is a dumb, dumb complaint that clearly doesn’t understand MMOs in general, nor the slow build-up to you being a hero, nor how much better XIV is doing writing-wise than literally every other MMO. Also the side content can be really freaking good. I’ve cried a few times and got close many others— and that’s just the poignant stuff— not the hilarious or badass stuff.

XIV ain’t perfect, but this is one of the dumbest complaints someone could have about an MMO; and they picked the worst MMO to complain about the writing on.

Came here to say this, the complaint has no idea how MMOs work (not to mention how much better and more story XIV has, even in— and sometimes especially in— all the side content)

Maybe I don’t hate Nickelback for the same “gut” reasons the internet does, but I sure do hate them.
