Many of the issues CAN be and are linked to colonialism, reread what I wrote.
Yes, your points are pertinent and support problems that colonialism is relevant to, I did not claim otherwise.
However, you’re clearly focused on negatives and crimes (in many cases rightfully so) the US has caused. But the question wasn’t exclusive to the US and is not exclusive to the US.
For the OPs question, trying to exclusively link everything to or overstate the colonial influence is an example of what I was saying as well.
It’s comforting to pretend that we just say one word “colonialism” and think that now we’re experts on the subject. But there’s so much more than colonialism, which again is a big factor (the first I listed), and overemphasis of it while disregarding the other real issues and nuances is counterproductive to learning.
You’re going to get a LOT of reductive and low effort answers from Lemmy radicals. But this is a super complex question, and there’s not a 5-second ELI5 answer if you really want to understand.
Also, when the radicals scream at you, there’s going to be a core of truth. They’re going to yell about colonization and empires. That’s a major factor, but not an exclusive one. However, for getting radical and rabidly furious its all they’ll bother posting to you.
Things to investigate, because answering this for yourself in a meaningful way is going to take a while and require study. Here are some topics but NOT an exhaustive list:

Stability, politically and otherwise (note this will have overlap with colonial and non-colonial powers destabilizing things intentionally for geopolitical gain)

Geography (i.e. the US’s greatest asset is its location, it neighbors no enemies and its main enemies are separated by an ocean. One of the key reasons the US focuses on the ability to project force)

Corruption (politically and non politically)

Crime and non-military/nation based violence (also could get grouped under personal safety and security)
And again, honestly, a lot of these topics will overlap, but that’s what I mean by there isn’t a quick, easy answer.
And the reductive stupid answer is just yelling colonialism.
There’s a reason people get PhDs in this subject. It’s not a quick, easy question.

I mean, the studios are doing it right and following SOP.
They wrote the DCMA, used the congress they bought to pass it, the president the bought to sign it into law, and now will use the FBI and local militarized police to impose their will by force.

I’m all sorts of fine with condem atrocities and war crimes. I hate Bibi and Likud and would love to see the whole lot of them tried. And wewilli be on the same page up to Oct. I’m all for prosecuting collective punishment and other Israeli war crimes pre october. And every rocket fired at civilians was a war crime, and I’m for prosecuting the tens of thousands of those incidents. and other Hamas’ greatest hits like suicide bombings and bus bombings.
The Palestinians have rejected 2-state 4 or 5 times, both pre and post. Roughly '37, '47, '67, '00, '08. And Israel has agreed to it multiple times and has been agreeable to it… Go look it up. It’s not hard to find. It’s just a more inconvenient fact for Lemmy.
Also, dirty Jerusalem, which NOBODY should get. Since these fucking murderous religious trash of all varieties can’t behave. They should just forbid it to everyone. Go kindergarten on them. “Now nobody gets to play with it”. Much of the rejection of 2 state is fucking Jerusalem. Religion makes everything horrible.
And Palestinians DID elect Hamas, elected them to destrogy israel and the Jews. And they’re more popular than ever. If they held elections today, they’d win easily both in Gaza and West Bank. Abbas is fucked and about to lose power completely.
Hamas is the government there. When people say aid to the Palestinians, what they mean is give money and food and fuel to Hamas (they literally handle it) amd then they also steal it and tell the citizens that Isreal is starving you. It’d great PR both in and outside of Gaza. It works wonders here eith Lemmy radical terrorist supporters and sympathizers.

But right now, the lines are blured. It’s why anti-semtic incidents, attacks, vandalism, etc. have spiked since the terrorists attacked Israel. And rhe most incidents of all occur at the “pro-palestinan rallies”, that turn pro-Hamas super easily.

It doesn’t do that. What you see is a giant dopamine hit to your confirmation bias. And the motivation of a bad actor attempting to abuse the courbts for political reasons is important.

I think genocide is not acceptable. I think the misuse of it by you and others is reprehensible and diminishes the term. I think you don’t seem to know what genocide is or looks like. There are historical examples, and you could learn a lot.
