Good one! I’m literally dealing with this right now on a server. Turns out you’re expected to deal with long running processes that spawn too many threads yourself, or else…
Does anyone know if this is the same way Sober is running the port of Roblox?
Newpipe works great on tablets too, a lot of Android apps have a landscape mode
I ran it on my dual core celeron and… just kidding try the mini llama 1B. I’m in the same boat with Ryzen 5000 something cpu
“not available in your country” is easily fixed, just turn on your vpn
PipePipe from f-droid is a clone that seems to update more frequently than newpipe, and has the additional benefit of being able to access the Chinese and Japanese video sites bilibili and niconico (worth checking out, it’s fascinating even for someone who doesn’t speak the languages)
It’s always nice to have some motivation from doing things for others. Depending on the service, you can always host for others AND for yourself. It’s 10x as much work but you do get positive feedback (sometimes…)
Yeah the Roblox thing is hard to swallow, it used to work better on Linux than on any other platform for me. Everything else there’s alternatives - my local PC shop sells machines at a significant discount “without windows installed”, maybe if more did that the market would take care of things and the software vendors would have to support Linux.
Might be a coincidence but MX Linux still supports 32bit x86 CPU’s.
I recently installed MX Linux on an old Dell Inspiron 1300 which inexplicably still runs and it’s pretty snappy, considering.
Digital. I’ve been reading ebooks for years, starting on my flip phone back in the day. The best part to me is being able to seamlessly switch from reading with my eyes to being read to (tts - I’m used to it now and it’s waaaay better than it was).
I do a lot of driving for work so I can get a ton of reading done on the road 😁
I am upvoting this - also moved to Cloudflare from ngrok it’s much simpler to use
Have you tried Minetest? It’s pretty good, and not Java based so a lot more lightweight.
Pretty cool. I was looking up nes games recently, turns out there are still people making games for the platform, open source and on GitHub!
A friend had the shower drain piped directly to his garden sprinkler at one point. His shower was on the 2nd floor so gravity did the rest.
Probably have a ton of unusual/unique items, being a magician and juggler, but the one that comes to mind is our dedicated BBQ bellows.
This is simply an old re-purposed balloon pump and lives outside next to the fireplace. Best way to get the fire going, portable, cheap… Beats blowing with your mouth/waving newspaper hands down.
Fun meme but corporate job listings in my town contradict the premise.
Let them C# I’m sticking to C++ and Python.
I was about 19, a magician friend told me I was good enough at juggling to do busking but I was too shy. Decided to give it a go anyway and remember shaking so hard while lighting the fire torches I was using. Made R30 ($2) so not a lot but I did it. I remember thinking to myself, “I’ll never have to work again!”
That was over 20 years ago, and since then - with the exception of that stupid pandemic we had recently - I have made a decent living as a circus performer and magician.
I won’t tell you it wasn’t a bumpy ride at first, but that first show was the turning point for me I will never forget.
Don’t know if anyone remembers but private repo’s used to be restricted on GitHub, so I actually use BitBucket for most of my private stuff.
Feels like it wouldn’t take much change for me to leave with my own stuff although some presence would always be necessary due to contributions. I don’t use any of the “features” of GH though, except for pages and that’s for work.
I have MX Linux on my old Dell Inspiron 1300 that refuses to die after 20 years. Great distro, I like it better than Ubuntu in some ways - just difficult to install some software built for 64 bit only of course
