As someone in recovery, I totally feel what you’re putting down. HOWEVER, most places that have decriminalized/allow recreational already make it illegal to smoke and drive and (typically) public use is also forbidden. Just think of the smell as an unsavory fart or a water treatment plant; it’s unpleasant, sticks to the inside of your nose, but passes shortly. Nothing you can do about it but wait for the TEMPORARY unpleasantness to pass.
Having worked in a hotel as well, if that happens just ask for a new room and explain the issue. Most front desk people (even late at night) are more than happy to do what they can to accommodate you.
