I’m not disagreeing that It is a terrible thing. What they’re doing is wrong and they should be punished. However we are not so different, and that is the damn truth of the thing. To that end, my comment was merely pointing out that the previous comments argument was very flawed.
Jails and prisons are for the sake of the argument practically the same thing in that both meet all of these criteria. I am not saying that we shouldn’t pay attention to this or catalog it and prosecute the perpetrators, I’m simply saying that the argument of the previous poster was extremely flawed.
TBF it depends on the prison. In this comment I will be referring to jails and prisons within the U.S., and I am working with the same assumptions you made in your comment.
People are put in jail without trial all the time, when awaiting trial. This is extremely common especially with poorer people who can’t afford bail.
Most prisons and many jails give prisoners a number, and will sometimes even refer to them only by the number. It’s not written on their head, but it is often attached to their uniform, and they can sometimes be punished for taking them off. It’s weird to write it on their head, and really just kinda silly if you ask me. They probably don’t have the resources for name tags because they’ve spent 200% of the budget on more bombs it seems.
Some jails and prisons have conditions that equate to actual torture according to the UN. Extreme heat without AC, cruel punishments, inadequate nutrition and safety. Most notable of these is solitary confinement, which is a very common prison punishment, and which is rightly classified as torture by the United Nations. Some people spend months or even years or decades in solitary confinement.
I think we all agree that the IDF is committing acts of genocide and inexcusable violence against civilians and captured combatants, but it’s also important to not inflate the facts, and to focus our attention on greater issues. Does it really matter so much that the IDF writes a number on their forehead, when they’re also bombing children? Is a marker really a greater evil than a bomb?
I have a quadro k2000m in my laptop. Cannot use modern drivers, and old drivers slowly have their support dropped by everything else. If the chip works then the drivers should as well.
AMD does not have this problem. AMD has open source drivers. If NVIDIA made their drivers open source then it would not be a problem.
Fixed your ED at least 😊👍🏻
NVIDIA drivers are notoriously bad. They break and WILL depreciate your card eventually, forcing you to switch to the slow open source drivers.
I have had two cards lose support. It’s absurd.
But for 370 it’s kinda a steal honestly.
TempleOS is NOT linux
This is clearly bad press, everyone reading this gets negative thoughts about Nintendo. We are all talking about how bad they are RIGHT NOW.
Nintendo would absolutely lose that legal battle. It’s well established that emulation is not a crime and nor is the development of emulators.
This kind of thing often has the opposite of the intended effect. People then host mirrors of the original repo, and the press brings more developers to the project.
This sort of action by Nintendo and other companies is so short sighted. Bad press, a legal battle they couldn’t actually win if it went to court, increased attention on the thing they’re trying to hinder, etc. Its a stupid decision made by business people who don’t know anything about tech, and who are disincentivized to care about the long term health of their brand.
I litterally had not heard of the emulator until now. Maybe I’ll have to compile it and give it a spin now.
You can easily mirror GitHub to some other repo
Yeah that’s why I said that lmao. Do you just leave a comment for every little thought you have? No attempt at perpetuating or improving the conversation??
Looks like a lil ghost to me
That’s fair, but my point still stands.
IMO this has been very publicized in certain circles, and will have the effect of martyrdom. More people are going to be interested in doing this.
Honestly, if anyone has become a master in C, they can become a rust master in short order. It’s different, but not THAT different. The roots are the same.
The classroom full of witnesses?
There are many lawyers who would take a case like this without up front payment in exchange for a portion of the settlement.
It is clearly meant to be graphing the difficulty of the game VS time played. The graph means what the author designed it to mean.
Look up project brutality or brutal doom. Those are great doom mods with a lot of fun gameplay. I used to play that for hours.
The Anno series is pretty cool. It’s like playing crack. I’ve been playing 1800 recently and it feels like an instant classic.
The elder scrolls games are great for this. The further back you go the more replayability there is IMO. Morrowind is goated.
Dungeon keeper 1&2 are both a lot of fun, and have lots of custom maps. The original dungeon keeper even has a full engine rewrite which is really good.
If you want to try map painters, Crusader Kings 3, EU4, and Victoria 3 are all excellent and in depth games, with a lot of replayability stemming from all of the different ways to build up your nation in the sandbox.
Rimworld, dwarf fortress, etc. Have fun!
Should have gone to court over it. It was stolen, not your fault at all.
