I feel that divergence is what made DS9 so good. Instead of travelling around exploring aliens, we’re stationary exploring ourselves and our politics. It was a great idea to make a show about a completely different aspect of Starfleet life. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the last great idea they had.
Y’all need to walk more! 20 min is only about 2 km, or 1.4 miles in funny units. That’s not far man.
Not sure on the reason for the downvotes here. My understanding is they marketed it very poorly and they brought a hero shooter to a saturated market without adding anything new
And if Battlefield were still worth playing I’d give a shit. It has been well over 12 years since I got excited about a Battlefield game.
Are any flights involved? I feel some flights should be involved in this setup…

The way Gmail orders conversations/email chains makes it SO hard to figure who’s reply to what and what the latest email is. Each email in the chain contains the entire chain before it and you end up reading everything twice just to work out what the hell is going on.
Right! Can you imagine if Rembrandt had an executive committee behind him dictating what to paint a picture of, then micromanaging brush strokes? That’s the games-for-shareholders model, and it’s fucked. Games are best when made by people who are passionate about the project, not solely about the profit. My big hope now is the publishers learn from the Sony debacle and simply publish the game, be happy with their profit cut, and shut the fuck up.
If they enforced it from day 1 then you’re right, no one would have cared. At day 1 it would be upfront and everyone would know what they’re getting and far fewer people would have bought it. Enforcing it at day 40 or whatever is not cool. I, along with many others by the sounds of it, was looking forward to finally buying this game and now I won’t be. In general I am so fucking sick of good-sounding games coming along just for them to be fucked in one way or another, i.e., missing content, under developed/tested, broken promises, “we’ll patch it later”, etc.
Atlas held up the sky, so his existential crisis should last too long.
I was disappointed in myself for buying it when it first came out. I hope there has been a LOT of patching, because at release it was boring AF. Especially coming from FO3 where dialog options and story branching actually mattered. In FO4 I remember purposely choosing the dumbest dialog options and the game just led me where it wanted me to go anyway.
This disappointment was compounded by me also buying Just Cause 3 at the same time… Holy shit what a garbage weekend that was. That was the day I vowed to never buy a game on presale again.
If history has shown us anything, it’s that the shop is ALWAYS ready. It goes: build a store front, make a game around it, and lastly remove some features from the game and put them in the shop.
I love how this was added to the Apollo 13 movie. As they’re floating about feeling cold and miserable Swigert gets told he has been granted an extension as he is “definitely out of the country”.
Vaccines will give you autism, microchips, actual diseases etc. It’s one of the best medical breakthroughs in history and we have idiots ruining it.
Is that the Behind The Bastards Robert Evans? Love his work.
He will, right after releasing Half Life 3.
So… They’re following the Reddit business model? Let’s see how that works out.
You moron everyone else has a voice: it’s called the house of representatives. This was a body specifically to advise on indigenous issues, primarily because they live in remote communities and are therefore under-represented. A lot of money goes their way each year from the federal budget for purposes decided by old white men who live in cities, so why not have an indigenous body advise on where that money gets spent? Seems a lot less wasteful to me.
AI being pumped into everything. It drives me absolutely nuts that every fucking thing has to have AI. Now you can buy a laptop that uses AI to write an email, just so the receiver can use AI to summarise it. We’re going to start using computers to develop enormous amounts of crap before we finally realise that putting the effort into writing, reading, drawing, designing etc. is actually worthwhile. Don’t get me wrong, I see several use cases for AI where it’s very good, and studied genetic algorithms at uni (i.e. software that can rewrite itself given feedback on its output), but what is being pushed on us now will just encourage laziness and ultimately be a detriment to humans in general.
