blurnsday ?
I’m somewhat of a medical professional.
Pass. Hard pass.
Populations change from birth, death, emigration and immigration. I highly doubt more democrats than republicans died/emigrated/abstained. It is much more likely that this skewed data is due to something else
Shouldn’t they have changed by the same amount?
In the case of embryo cloning, it’s Sophie’s Choice but for embryos. Make a few dozen combinations of sperm and egg, and then choose the best one to grow based on your opinion. But embryos are people too. How many potential sibs can you waste for the perfect child? It’s icky, and we should have caution when we do powerful things.
Individual gene editing therapies are also being worked on now, but these pose similar issues.
What if taking away depression from the next few generations causes the human population to no longer produce quality artists?
Another issue: the wealthy will have unequal access to it compared to others. We can only have nice things (freedom from disease) if there are those willing to pay charge for them. Not everyone can benefit from gene therapy, so it is not truly a benefit to society or humanity, and therefore should not be developed as a biotechnology. As if that ever stopped anyone.
Thank you so much for this thoughtful response. I didn’t think about it that way. You made a very good point about local elections.
Don’t threaten me with a good time
Devastating! Love it. Thank you.
Sure buddy, no problem.
The topic at hand is: I don’t want to chat with you further because of the way you communicated. I would prefer to discuss this with someone who does not communicate this way.
So, thank you so much, but I’m just going to have to stop now because my worthless bitching and playing-the-victim strategy was no match for your powerful logic. You are superior to me. You win. I lost. You saw through me and my excuses-after-excuses ploy. Blast! Until next we meet, fated interloper.
Look, I agree with you, but up to a point. I can barely navigate my own life and I’m responsible for yours? No thank you. I didn’t vote for Kang, I wasn’t gonna vote for Kodos, and I do not see how any result could possibly be my fault. The ancestors agreed to let fascism rise before I was a single cell in mom’s developing uterus. My state votes red, always, no matter what I do. I can’t afford to leave, but I believe I have never once had my interests represented by my vote. I’ll still vote, because it is my duty as a citizen. My choice or yours, we all get turd sandwiches.
Blame and bully me to death if you want, but isn’t there someone else more controlling, with more influence on the election who surprisingly is not subject to the same blame or bullying?
If you’re just here to suggest the same tired idea and insult strangers I don’t think you have a strong argument
Sorry, I’ll get right on fixing that for you. I’m obviously responsible.
Edit: but honestly, is shaming me into voting going to make the system better or is it just to make you feel better about the broken system?
Yes the world was perfection before voter apathy
How so?
Edit: I am serious, this warrants an explanation. Not voting does not fix a broken system. Voting also does not fix the broken system. Shaming apathetic voters can help increase voter turnout. Increasing voter turnout does not make a more perfect union. But that’s too sad to think about, so downdoots to the left, please, and ignore my point. No wonder I’m clinically apathetic.
Edit 2: after threats of violence I would like to take the time to retract any unpatriotic statements. Our union may not be perfect but it’s the best one we have.
Yes but did you vote /s
If this is a one-time event, I would ignore & move on. If I ever see more than three posts in a row by a user, I block that user. It doesn’t have to be permanent.
I dunno man… You forget about GT? /s
No, of course TeamFourStar doesn’t care about how they could be “damaging” to the original experience of watching the show. I think you and your friend are allowed to enjoy whatever you choose, right? You’re upset your friend is experiencing DBZ incorrectly. It feels wrong? I think I understand, but please correct me if I’m going off course.
It is easier to relate to one another with small jokes and low-investment memes. Comedy is a helpful distraction in a terrible world, even if the comedy is shallow.
Being able to open up and have a knowledgable discussion about a topic is one of the deepest and least attainable social pleasures. If you want to be able to discuss DBZ with this person you have to adapt to their growing body of knowledge on the subject.
Also, you have a unique perspective to share with your friend, once you can overcome the obstacles. Seriously, why does TeamFourStar, who allegedly loved DBZ, represent Piccolo as the only serious character? I bet it could be because they could only use the original drawings, and they have to write scripts around the fact that Piccolo does not smile often.
I struggle with these feelings too. I’m always on the lookout for someone expressing distress and I tend to attend to their needs at the expense of my own work. It is important for me to recognize when someone actually wants assistance or if I’m just “mansplaining,” which would be annoying and demeaning.
Sometimes, if I don’t understand the problem myself, I find it very interesting to learn how to solve it, and the experience is usually mutually beneficial.
Most people don’t have ADHD. You had to do something most people don’t have to do. You adapted to your condition, and without support. I’m sorry you didn’t get the recognition you may have benefitted from as a child.
Recognizing my disability doesn’t make me helpless or lazy, it helps me get the resources that enable me to perform like the world expects.
Being 6ft tall can give you joint and heart problems in later life. Flat-chested women can be excellent swimmers. Having eyes too far apart might make you an unsafe driver.
